Journey Beyond is designed to react to narration, not keywords. Casual out-of-game chatter won’t switch tracks; descriptive cues will.
What the engine listens for
Playful banter (ignored):
“I attack! I fight a monster! It’s very scary! It’s a cave!”
Reads as you and your party joking around - no song change.
Narrative cues (triggers change):
“You draw your sword and square up to the goblin. He circles, snarling, drawing his axe from its holster. Scanning for breaks in his armor, you prepare to strike - roll initiative.”
Signals entering an intense battle — music ramps accordingly.
Start by choosing a starting tone (Mystical / Dramatic / Peaceful).
GM as you normally would. No need to change your style!
If a change takes a moment, that’s by design — Journey Beyond prevents jarring song changes in-session.
